Overview
Ampacet manufacture colour additives for plastic products. Being short of production space meant that a new mixing process had to be built on a mezzanine floor. However, the mixer was both very heavy and caused a high degree of vibration.
The solution
A small mezzanine floor with steel decking was built with a “cut-out” in the middle. The mixer was built on a heavy duty framework below the level of the floor and protruded through the floor. Materials are moved onto the floor via a pallet gate, put into the mixer and when mixed are fed into a hopper. The heavy vibrations of the mixer is taken by the purpose built framework rather than by the mezzanine floor.
